Dubai International Boat Show 2026: Videographer Guide

The Dubai International Boat Show 2026 takes place from 25 to 29 November at Dubai Harbour. The show used to open in spring; this year its organiser, Dubai World Trade Centre, moved it to November to meet the start of the boating season, and says it will be held in November every year from now on. The organiser lists more than 1,000 brands and over 200 boats and watercraft on display, and many of the boats are not standing in a hall but moored along the pontoons of the marina.

That changes how you film: a yacht is a product people want to walk through and see from the water. This guide is for shipyards, dealers, charter companies and marine brands, and their agencies, who are booking a videographer for the Boat Show.

What to film at the Boat Show

Plan the filming around what you will publish. Most exhibitors need some of these:

  • The reveal or launch. The cover coming off, the first guests stepping aboard, a short speech on the aft deck. A premiere happens once, so plan the camera positions with the shipyard and film it from at least two angles.
  • Tours on board. Bow to stern, deck by deck, with the captain or a sales lead talking through the layout, and close-ups of wood, leather and stone in the salon and cabins. These videos work for months for buyers who cannot come to Dubai.
  • From the pontoon and from the water. Stabilised handheld shots along the pontoon show the lines of the hull and the scale of the boat. For the yacht seen from the water, a chase boat with its own captain makes it possible.
  • Visitors and interviews. Buyers on board, conversations on the sun deck, and your management, designers and dealer partners in one or two short answers each.
  • VIP evenings. Receptions on board and on shore after sunset.
  • Social clips during the show. Vertical videos of 15–45 seconds that go out the same day.

Light and timing

The show opens to visitors at 15:00 and closes at 20:00, or at 21:00 on Friday and Saturday. In late November the sun sets at around half past five, so golden hour, the softest light of the day, falls inside show hours. Keep it for exteriors, the walk along the deck and the hero shots of the boat.

Mornings are the quiet time on the docks, with no visitors in the frame; check the exhibitor manual for the hours when contractors may work on site before opening. If your boat arrives by sea before the show, its entry into Dubai Harbour is a shot worth planning.

Interiors with a small crew

Yacht interiors are tight and full of mirrors, lacquer and glass. One videographer with a gimbal and small lights works better there than a big crew: shoes off at the gangway, cases on the dock, nobody in the reflections. Agree with the shipyard on a time when the boat is closed to visitors for filming: twenty quiet minutes give more than an hour among guests.

How many videographers you need

For one exhibitor, two videographers is the setup we recommend. One works on board on interiors, tours and interviews, the other stays on the pontoon for exteriors, visitors and reactions. Several boats, a premiere and a VIP evening in the same week need more people, and three or more videographers work best with a production coordinator who keeps the schedule.

Sound on the docks

Wind, generators and music from the neighbouring berths: a camera microphone records all of it. Interviews and vox pops need a separate sound recordist with wireless microphones and wind protection. Record interviews inside the salon with the doors closed or on a quiet part of the deck, and give each speaker a time slot.

Same-day clips

To post during the show, plan an editor on site. Because the doors open in the afternoon, a clip from the morning tour can be out before the first visitors arrive, and the reveal the same evening. Without an editor on site, the films come after the show, on the agreed date.

Access and permissions

Exhibitors normally register their crew through the organiser's exhibitor services: badges, build-up times and the rules for filming on site. A boat show adds two more permissions. Filming on board needs the agreement of the shipyard or the owner of each boat, and anything on the water during the show, including a chase boat, needs the approval of the organiser and the marina. Send the crew names in time.

What it costs

Our rates for event filming apply to the Boat Show as well:

  • Videographer: from AED 600 per hour when you book 4 hours or more; shorter bookings cost more per hour, and the minimum booking is 2 hours.
  • Sound recordist with all the equipment, for interviews and vox pops: AED 2,500 per day.
  • Editor on site for same-day clips: AED 3,500 per day (up to 8 hours).
  • Production coordinator for crews of three or more videographers: AED 3,500 per day.
  • Travel: none, because Dubai Harbour is in Dubai (the same goes for Sharjah and Ajman).
  • Editing is quoted separately, by the number and complexity of the videos.

A chase boat and its captain are not included; shipyards and charter companies usually arrange them. These prices are approximate and exclude 5% VAT. Try the event price calculator with your hours and crew, and confirm the exact figure with our producer on WhatsApp.

Plan it now

The best shots of a yacht are planned with the shipyard, not on the day. Book the crew as soon as you know which boats you are showing, and send us:

  • your berth or stand number and the boats on display;
  • the days and hours you need;
  • the reveal, tours, interviews and evenings that must be filmed;
  • whether you need shots from the water;
  • what you want to receive and by when.
